Official Summary

The following is the official description of “December” from Lezhin. It is provided here solely for reference. All rights belong to the original author and publisher.

One frigid December dawn, Song Yeon-woo meets an injured runaway alpha; inexplicably drawn toward his woodsy scent, he is compelled to help the young man. Despite his aversion to alphas due to trauma in his past, Yeon-woo somehow feels safe and welcomed in his presence. The two part in the moonlight, never to see one another again…but fate has other plans. Two years later, Yeon-woo has finally returned to the city to begin anew – still wary of alphas around him, he has built barriers in nearly every aspect of his life to keep himself safe. But when that a familiar scent begins to pierce through his boundaries, Yeon-woo is unable to stop himself from following them in pursuit of something thrilling…

✨ 1. Introduction

When the scent of fate drifts in through the cracks of a guarded heart, a bittersweet ABO romance begins to bloom—
“December” is a BL webtoon that’s quietly addictive and surprisingly emotional. Set in an Omegaverse (also known as an ABO universe) with unique rules, it tells the story of Kim Sin (the top), a non-awakened yet high-ranking Alpha who couldn’t manifest his traits—until he meets Song Yeon-woo (the bottom), a fragile, trauma-bearing Omega. After their fated encounter, Kim Sin becomes the strongest “Extreme Alpha,” able to suppress other Alphas—but he can only go into heat for the Omega who awakened him. This connection is one-sided: while Kim Sin is bound to Yeon-woo, Yeon-woo won’t return the bond unless marked.

Though the original novel delves deeper into their relationship, the webtoon still captures the tension and tenderness beautifully. Yeon-woo’s emotional journey—his hesitation, growing affection, and inner conflict—is portrayed with heartfelt detail.

Unfortunately, the adaptation only covers the first two volumes of the novel, ending at a mid-point in the story. The third volume and the side story, where the couple finally completes the marking, aren’t included in the comic version. Hopefully, the rights will be extended in the future—for now, novel readers have the upper hand!

🧡 3. Why I Fell in Love with This Webtoon

A story that truly flutters the heart

When the two reunite, Kim Sin awkwardly tries to approach Yeon-woo, and it’s adorable—completely breaking his cold-and-distant persona. His expression when they meet again is such a contrast to his earlier stay-away-from-me vibes—total double standard! Yeonwoo is clearly drawn to him from the start but too scared to get close, biting his lip without realizing it, which drives Kim Sin wild. Honestly, readers will probably want to scream from the tension (in the best way).

Yeon-woo’s inner monologues are lowkey hilarious

Yeon-woo often breaks the tension with his dry, self-deprecating humor, making the heavy story feel lighter and more relatable. Even side characters add charm with their clueless but lovable personalities.

🎯 4. Ratings

🎨 Art – ★★★★☆

Character Design
Detailed and expressive faces, especially Yeon-woo’s striking eyes.
Kim Sin looks sharp and handsome—his front-facing visuals are stunning.

Coloring
Seasons 1 & 2 have the standard sweet romance palette.
Season 3’s palette becomes darker and more muted to match the kidnapping arc, but it feels slightly too heavy.

Storyboarding:
Panels are easy to follow, but dynamic scenes could use more motion beyond speed lines.

🎬 Plot & Pacing – ★★★★☆

The adapted arcs (Vol.1–2) are well-paced, with a natural flow from emotional buildup to relationship development.

Season 3 is only 11 episodes and feels rushed—likely to wrap things up before plotlines diverged. Sadly, it skips a key emotional moment: when Yeon-woo realizes he was Kim Sin’s awakening trigger and spirals into guilt.

💬 Favorite Line

“계속 신경 써주세요.”

“Please keep caring about me.”

When Yeon-woo asks Kim Sin how he can help, Kim Sin replies with this quietly devastating line. Ugh, my heart!

📚 5. Korean Language Tip

The phrase “계속 신경 써주세요” is a classic example of how Korean can sound sweet, indirect, and loaded with feelings.

  • 신경 쓰다 = to care about, pay attention to, be concerned
  • In daily life:
    • 신경 쓰지 마세요 = “Don’t worry about it.”
    • 그 사람한테 신경 쓰지 마 = “Ignore that person.”

🟦 6. Who Should Read (or Avoid) This Webtoon?

✅ Perfect for:

  • Readers who want to feel butterflies right alongside the characters
  • ABO trope lovers who enjoy dominant Alphas and emotional growth

🚫 Not for you if:

  • You hate stories that stop before the “real” ending
  • You’re not into Alpha-type tops or ABO worldbuilding

🔚 7. Final Thoughts

My overall rating: ★★★★☆
“December” is a beautifully drawn, emotionally rich ABO webtoon with just the right amount of angst, tension, and sweetness. If you don’t mind a few creative liberties with ABO mechanics, this one’s a gem. The characters are gorgeous, the Q-version chibis are adorable, and the story has real emotional depth.
