1. Introduction

Honestly, I didn’t have high expectations for this one at first. The art looked decent, but the summary didn’t grab me—especially because the story jumps between two timelines, one seven years ago and one in the present. I usually find that kind of structure disjointed.

But I was wrong. So wrong. It was amazing—and even made me shed a few tears.

The art is incredibly delicate, no doubt about it. As the story progresses, the paneling becomes more cinematic. Even without dialogue, just a few frames can show exactly what the characters are doing or thinking—pure “show, don’t tell.”

There’s no love triangle, and Jang Yoonsung (the top) is completely devoted to Lee Hakyung (the bottom). Though he’d lost all his memories, Yoonsung instantly fell in love with Hakyung again, twice in a lifetime. He may not seem like a soft guy, but by the end of this story, you’ll have no choice but to call him a gentle top. That’s just how tender he is with the person he loves.

This kind of love only exists in comics or dreams. And since I can’t even dream about it, I’ll just keep reading more webtoon.

Official Summary
(The following is the official description of “Reunion” from Manta. It is provided here solely for reference. All rights belong to the original author and publisher.)

Maybe we’re destined to meet.

Struggling to pay his mother’s hospital bills, Hakyung receives an offer: the fees will be taken care of. The catch? In exchange, he must pretend to be a girl he once knew in order to deceive the chairman of a powerful company. It’s going well until Yoonsung, the chairman’s grandson, appears…

🧡 3. Why I Fell in Love with This Story

  1. The Ultimate Top
Give me a dozen more like him, please. When I read BL, I usually just want to see the couple be happy together. But in Reunion”, I didn’t just want them to be happy—I wanted Jang Yoonsung to marry me!
  2. Heart-wrenching Storytelling
The narrative constantly switches between past and present. The grown-up Hakyung believes Yoonsung never knew he was cross-dressing back then. He’s afraid that if Yoonsung ever regains his memory, their relationship will fall apart—so he hesitates to accept the current Yoonsung.
But we readers already know the truth, from past flashbacks: Yoonsung knew all along that Hakyung was a boy, and after wrestling with it, he decided to keep loving him anyway.
There’s even a twist later on—the “trigger moment” when Yoonsung found out the truth wasn’t what we were led to believe. That reveal? Genius.
  3. The Webtoon Is Better Than the Original Novel
I read the webtoon first, then went back to buy the original Korean novel—and I have to say, the comic felt more emotionally powerful. The characters were just more alive on the page.

📊 4. Ratings

• 🎨 Art ★★★★★★★ (yes, that’s two stars over the max)

  1. The paneling is flawless—there’s one scene where it takes 14 full panels just to show Hakyung calling Yoonsung. No flashbacks, no narration, no inner thoughts. Just the act of calling. The 15th panel? Yoonsung finally picks up and says, “Hello?” That’s either the artist’s dedication or the editor’s brilliance.
  2. The character designs are stunning, and the poses are fluid and expressive. It’s like the artist was flexing the whole time. Yoonsung isn’t just handsome—he’s effortlessly charming, with every look and gesture radiating heartthrob-level appeal.
  3. The intimate scenes are beautiful but not overly erotic. They feel soulful—more like a spiritual connection than lust.
  4. Unlike many other webtoons, this one doesn’t include chibi-style cut-ins, which helps maintain a more mature tone throughout.

• 🎬 Plat development and pacing ★★★★★
The story begins with the two characters reuniting after seven years. Yoonsung doesn’t remember Hakyung—at first, it’s jarring. Then the story reveals he has amnesia.
The big reveal—why he lost his memory—comes right at the emotional peak, and it hits hard. Hakyung cries, and I cried too.
The pacing might feel slower than other comics, but that’s mainly because of the detailed paneling. It’s never boring.

• 💬 Memorable Quote
한 번만 더 나를 다른 새끼로 착각하면…그땐 그 새끼랑 어디까지 했는지 직접 확인해 볼 거야.

This line comes after Hakyung, half-asleep and lost in a dream of the past, kisses Yoonsung unconsciously. When he wakes and pushes Yoonsung away in confusion, Yoonsung misunderstands—he thinks Hakyung was dreaming of another man—and gives him this gentle yet possessive warning.
[Translation:] “If you mistake me for that bastard one more time… I’ll find out myself just how far you went with him.”

📚 5. Korean Language Tip: What Does 새끼 Mean?

In the sentence 「한 번만 더 나를 다른 새끼로 착각하면… 그땐 그 새끼랑 어디까지 했는지 직접 확인해 볼 거야.」, 새끼 literally means “young animal” or “offspring,” but in casual Korean, it’s often used as a rough insult like “guy” or “bastard,” carrying a strong, somewhat coarse tone.
✔️ Example sentences:

  • 이 새끼, 또 지각했어! (This guy showed up late again!)
  • 너 왜 이래, 새끼야? (What’s wrong with you, bastard?)
