✨ 1. Introduction

This is one of the funniest Korean comics I’ve ever read.
The story itself isn’t written as a comedy, but all the unfortunate things happening to the bottom, Yoon Hamin, combined with his sarcastic remarks, make it feel like a comedy for readers. Even if you skip the romance plot, just watching the bottom’s frequent meltdowns is entertaining enough.
The title “Mad Dog” fits perfectly — it seems tailor-made for the top, Kwon Sehyuk.
Hamin (the bottom) is the son of a mafia boss, yet it’s Sehyuk (the top) who always speaks to him informally, while Hamin uses honorifics toward Sehyuk — this contrast is quite interesting.
The main story is clean, focusing on kissing and hugging, while the side story is rated 19+. In the main story, the top is constantly either making dirty jokes or using fighting skills to dominate the bottom. It’s like all the passionate moments are teased but always cut off at the last second. This leaves readers feeling frustrated but thinking it might actually be better this way — it allows the slow-to-realize bottom to take the initiative out of genuine feelings.
The side story can be summed up in just one phrase: worth the wait 🧡🧡🧡.

Official Summary
(The following is the official description of “Mad Dog” from Lezhin. It is provided here solely for reference. All rights belong to the original author and publisher.)

Some people thirst for power while others want nothing more than to live low. Hamin has always been resentful of the label that comes with being his father’s son—he didn’t ask to be born into a mob family!
After much trial and error, Hamin finally breaks ties with his family and begins to live the life he’s dreamed about. That is, until he gets kidnapped and finds himself under the protection of a certain Kwon Sehyuk. All Hamin wants is his “normal” life back, but Sehyuk is as far from normal as a person can get…

🧡 3. Why I Love This Comic

Here’s why I like it:

  1. Great character development
First, Yoon Ha-min is hilarious. I’ve never seen a bottom so good at self-preservation. He knows when to back down quickly when threatened or intimidated and always ends up getting played by the top.
Hamin’s misfortunes are funny because he never just cries about them, otherwise it would be a completely different story, not Mad Dog.
Kwon Sehyuk is ridiculously handsome and either insults people or cracks dirty jokes. He always seems confident and in control. As the right-hand man of the mafia boss, he’s incredibly patient and stays calm even when provoked. He’s definitely strong. He doesn’t go easy on Hamin either — it’s not some lover’s gentle teasing, but real discipline when it’s needed, which is rare in BL webtoon but handled perfectly here.
  2. Kwon Sehyuk’s style
Even though he wears suits daily, you can tell he’s mafia just by looking at him. The black turtleneck suits him perfectly, and the tattoo on his left hand is unforgettable.
His image reminds me of a snake — the author drew his eyes full of confidence and mockery, making you want to run away, but there’s no escaping — you just have to call him “boss” (yes, Hamin definitely can’t resist him).

🎯 4. Ratings

• 🎨 Art Style: ★★★★☆
Before this, the author also drew “At the End of the Road“, which is about the same length as “Mad Dog”. The art is mature, with very precise facial expressions and smooth scene transitions.
Maybe to speed up coloring, the author shades the whites of the eyes with a light skin tone, which I don’t really like. Also, the side profiles of faces sometimes look unnatural, so I deducted one star.
• 🎬 Plot and pacing: ★★★★★
The length is just right, neither too fast nor too slow. Sehyuk and Hamin bicker all the way to falling in love, and everything feels natural. Since the bottom isn’t the type to worry unnecessarily, the story doesn’t dwell on his struggles falling for the top. But because they go through mafia troubles together, their relationship develops smoothly.
They confirm their feelings in the main story, and the side story takes it further with intimate scenes. Compared to typical mafia dramas, this is quite pure and keeps a lighthearted tone, which I really like.
💬 Memorable Quote
그세 서방님 얼굴이라도 보고 싶었어?
Hamin thinks Sehyuk is trapped and is worried sick about his safety. When he finally sees Sehyuk safe, he can’t believe it—until he hears this ridiculous line, confirming it’s really him.
[Translation:] “You’re that eager to see your man’s face already?”

📚 5. Korean Phrase Time: What does 그세 mean?

In the sentence “그세 서방님 얼굴이라도 보고 싶었어?”, 그세 is a colloquial form of 그새 (그 사이에), meaning “in such a short time” or “so soon.” So the sentence means: ” Can’t wait to see your hubby’s face already?” or “Aww, did you already miss your hubby?”
✔️ Example sentences:
• 그세 잊어버렸어? (You already forgot?)
• 그세 보고 싶었어? (You already missed me?)
🗣 Pronunciation tip: Pronounce 그세 as geu-se, in one breath, to sound teasing~
🎥 You’ll see this line in Episode #1 of my “Korean with BL Webtoons” short video series . If you want to learn how to say it with character tone, remember to follow me and watch the videos!

🟦 6. Who Should Read This & Who Should Skip

✅ Recommended for:
• Those who like strong and wild tops
• Those who enjoy bickering protagonists
• Those who like honest and strong bottoms
🚫 Not for you if:
• You want intense, cutthroat mafia power struggles
• You want the tops to completely lose their minds over the bottoms and spoil them without limits.

🔚 7. Conclusion

I give this comic an overall rating of ★★★★★. Even readers who don’t usually read mafia-themed works can enjoy it easily. It’s a comic you’ll want to revisit from time to time.
