✨ 1. Introduction
I know this has nothing to do with BL, but if I had to pick just one thing to highlight about this series, it’s that the snake is ridiculously cute.
I’m not even a reptile person, but the artist is so good at drawing snakes—especially in the earlier chapters, before the romance really kicks in. The story starts out feeling like a beginner’s guide to snake care, told from Chaewool (the bottom)’s perspective. Honestly, the snake’s cuteness carried the whole early part of the comic. It makes you want to adopt one!
The main couple’s relationship is built on mutual protection. They’re from different species and technically not meant to fall in love. On top of that, they lose their memories in different timelines. But even so, their deep instinct to protect each other helps them overcome every obstacle.
It’s a heartwarming love story between two gentle souls (even though the top, Kwon Chaehun, looks pretty intimidating).
What’s impressive is how the story includes plenty of steamy scenes without clashing with its emotional core—that balance really shows the author’s skill.

Chaewool’s heart shatters after the death of his boss, Chaehun, whom he had long admired in secret. But soon after, Chaehun returns. Does that mean he’s alive? Something is amiss… The perfect facade of the boss Chaewool knew remains intact, but who is this cold, serpentine beast lurking within?
🧡 3. Why I Fell in Love with This Comic
Here’s what made me love this series:
- The animal drawings are amazing!
Whether it’s a snake, chipmunk, or lizard, they’re all drawn super adorably. The proportions and movement look exactly like real animals. - The love between the main characters
Yoo Chaewool is always ready to accept Kwon Chaehun, no matter what state he’s in. He’s never afraid, even when there’s a chance he might get hurt—like he’s completely let go of his human survival instincts. He keeps a distance from everyone else, but naturally lets his guard down around Chaehun, even initiating intimacy.
Meanwhile, Kwon Chaehun lives solely for Chaewool’s happiness. It’s no exaggeration to say that his entire purpose is to protect him. Even after hundreds of years, his love remains unwavering.
By the end of the story, it’s clear that their bravery and love for each other are what break the curse. That kind of resolve really hit me. - All the characters are lovable
From the main couple to the side couple, the adoptive mother, and even the mountain ghost—everyone values emotional bonds like friendship and family, which brings a lot of warmth to the story.
🎯 4. Ratings
• 🎨 Art: ★★★★
- Paneling: 100/100
The panel flow is incredibly natural. You don’t notice any jarring angles or strange cuts—it just reads smoothly. - Character Design: 90/100
The anatomy and motion are spot-on, but the facial details are a little simpler. For example, the eyes are mostly monochrome, which loses a bit of depth, so I knocked off a few points.
• 🎬 Plot Development and Pacing: ★★★★
- Slow start
When the story begins, Kwon Chaehun has lost his memory and can’t fully control his powers, shifting between human and snake form. His mind works more like an animal’s, and he doesn’t understand how to function in the human world. This part of the story is basically slice-of-life with zero plot movement and goes on until around chapter 20. I think keeping it under 10 episodes would’ve been better. - Strong story structure
Everything gets explained and tied up, from their first meeting in the past, to Chaewool’s childhood and adulthood in the present. The only moment that felt a little rushed was when Kwon Chaehun left Chaewool in the ancient timeline—but it doesn’t ruin the reading experience. - Side stories
Out of the 23 side-story chapters, more than half focus on the side couple. It’s a satisfying bonus for readers who were rooting for them during the main story. One highlight was finally learning the backstory of the ghost character, which turned out to be deeply emotional. The last few chapters go back to the main couple’s happily-ever-after, now finally free from all their past burdens. - 💬 Iconic line
저…집 안에 갇혀 있고 내일부터 출근도 안 하는데…아무것도 안 하고 누워만…?
Kwon Chaehun decides to lock up Yoo Chaewool to protect him from the curse. Instead of resisting, Chaewool teases him and initiates intimacy.
[Translation:] “So… I’m stuck at home, not even going to work starting tomorrow… Are we just gonna lie here and do nothing…?”
📚 5. Korean Language Tip: What does “누워만” mean?
In the sentence “저…집 안에 갇혀 있고 내일부터 출근도 안 하는데…아무것도 안 하고 누워만…?”,
the word 누워만 comes from 눕다 (to lie down), with its connective form 누워 plus the particle -만 (only).
So it means: “Just lying down and doing nothing?”
✔️ Example sentences with –만:
• 말만 하지 말고 행동해. (Don’t just talk—take action.)
• 보기만 해도 웃겨. (Just looking at it makes me laugh.)
• 누워만 있지 말고 일어나. (Don’t just lie there—get up!)
